Jonquil Garden Club of Smyrna Georgia

Welcomes gardeners and friends to one of the City's oldest social clubs organized in 1937. We celebrated our 80th anniversary in 2017. JGC has played a key role in beautifying our city with flowers, plants and of course, jonquils as we are known as "The Jonquil City". Over the years members participated in garden events and flower shows at the old Rich's department store garden center that later became the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We have continued our civic responsibilities with an annual plant sale which is a great opportunity to educate people about plants and gardening, actively participating in the King Springs School Garden Club and the North Georgia State Fair Flower Shows as clerks and  judges as well as entering our flowers and vegetables and taking home lots of blue ribbons and Best in Show awards.

We work with Keep Smyrna Beautiful on their beautification projects and Annual Community Awards Banquet. JGC also takes an active role in supporting the Marietta Council of Garden Clubs. Each year Jonquil Garden Club makes annual donations to several worthwhile organizations and programs recommended by the Gardening Club of Georgia. We have set up an annual $1,000 scholarship through Chattahoochee Technical Collage for a Horticultural student. And we contribute to the Dollars for Scholars program.

Our members include women and men of all ages. We invite you to attend our monthly meetings (except for June July August) held the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Smyrna Library from 10:30 to 12:30. Following our business meeting, we have guest presenters and in house flower sales. For further information, please contact Shirley Priest, Pres. at 770 433-3248 or sapriest2@aol.com. And please plan to attend a meeting and become a member.
